The Institute has diversified aims and some of these are of national importance.

1. The Institute aims to: Identify high growth sectors and set up facilities to meet future requirements of trained manpower in these sectors.
2. Provide training facilities in those areas where special skills are required for efficient performance of the job.
3. Provide an opportunity to learn job skills in an actual workplace environment.
4. Experiment with innovative teaching techniques and analyze the results in a continuing effort to improve teaching standards.
5. Undertake specific programmes to meet the unique requirements of various segments of an industry.
6. Set up a Career Guidance service to facilitate career choice through information dissemination, counseling and training.
